A total of fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico are eligible for the National Scholarship program. All National Scholars are required to attend the National Scholars Conference in Washington, D.C., during their senior year.
Scholarship applications will be available starting on December 1 and ending on March 15. A common application means you can apply once for a variety of scholarship programs offered by the Association. Eligibility Criteria for Horatio Alger Scholarship
A candidate must meet all of the following requirements in order to qualify for the Horatio Alger Scholarship:

⇒ Currently, be a full-time senior in high school with plans to enroll in an undergraduate university as a first-year student no later than the fall following graduation.
⇒ Students are advised to start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution if they are committed to completing a four-year bachelor’s degree.
⇒ Demonstrate that your family is earning $55,000 a year or less adjusted gross.
⇒ Get involved in activities such as after-school activities, volunteerism, and charitable causes.
⇒ Adhere to the highest moral principles and persist in the face of adversity
⇒ Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
⇒ You must be a citizen of the United States
